French Montana lives up to his bad boy image, opening up about his difficult childhood and a shooting incident he endured in his native Bronx, N.Y.

In a new interview with Jay-Z's 'Life + Times,' Frenchy takes cameras back to his old New York neighborhood, including an area where he got shot years ago. "All I see is two n----s, hammers at my head" remembers French. "As soon as everybody started moving in on me, everybody ran. So I'm the only one stuck. I got shot, back of my head."

He then goes on to say, "Somebody died back here." He eventually woke up in the hospital but later ran out of fear that the shooters would find him there recovering. The shooting was allegedly set up by someone he thought was his friend. The 'Pop That' rhymer suffered brain injury as a result.

French's debut album, 'Excuse My French,' is slated for a May 21 release.
