According to TheBoomBox, funk legend Sly Stone  won a breach-of-contract lawsuit against his former manager and lawyer, who swindled him out of his fortune.  Once at the top of the charts, the Family Stone front-man slipped into solitude and off the music scene after heavy drug use took over his life.  His former manager Gerald Goldstein and lawyer Glenn Stone, took advantage of that and had Sly to sign-off on documents that would ultimately rob him of his money, career and business.

For years the 71-year old has been living destitute out of a van in California, but that's about to change.  USA Today reports, Tuesday (Jan. 27), an L.A. jury ruled in his favor, convicting Goldstein, Stone and Even St. Productions Ltd of stealing his royalties.

Sly's currant attorney Nicholas Hornberger said of the verdict, “It’s a good day for Sly, it’s a good day for entertainers in general.  This was an important verdict for people that are artists, entertainers, music composers, etc.”

Stoned testified in court and you wont believe how long it's been since he recieved a royality check.  Listen to Tha Wire below and find out, plus learn more about how he's going to get his money back.

Finally, another Hot 97 staple is leaving the iconic Hip Hop Station.  First it was Angie Martinez, Mister C and now Cipha Sounds.  AllHipHop reports

This week, Hot 97 issued the following statement:

“Effective immediately, Cipha Sounds is no longer with WQHT HOT 97 FM. We wish him well on his future endeavors.”

AllHipHop News reports, Cipha Sounds took to his Instagram page to tease his followers about what's next.  The DJ said:

“After 17 years, I’m leaving Hot 97. I’m changing my relationship status from ‘it’s complicated’ to ‘single’. It’s been an amazing ride – from intern to weekends to morning show host to fill Angie’s seat in afternoons. Many years of incredible, life-changing experiences and enough amazing memories to last five lifetimes. The next move is already underway and I promise it’s going to be huge.”
