If your tired of crime in your neighborhood, one major way to combat it is to familiarize yourself with your neighbors.  Get to know who your neighbors are, talk to one another and together you can keep your property and neighborhood safe.  There's an old Neighborhood Watch saying, " If I don't call 911, my neighbor will."  Forming an alliance with other neighbors in your neighborhood, is a great way to run criminals out or your neighborhood.

Knowing your neighbors and looking out for one another is the first defense against crime in your neighborhood.  For example, let a neighbor know your going out of town (especially if you live alone) because this will keep them on alert and allow them to keep an eye on your property or pick-up your mail while our gone.  If we all did this one thing, for one another our neighborhoods would be that much safer and crime free.

So come out to the "Know Your Neighbor Meet & Greet"  and encourage your neighbors to do the same.  Brought you by Tony Guillory (District 4 Calcasieu Parish Police Jury), Lt. James Stewart (Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Dept.) and Mac Golden (Oak Park Neighborhood Watch Team Leader).  It will take place Tuesday Sept. 9th at 5:30pm in the Bellard Recreation Center (formally Hillcrest Community Center), located at 2808 Hillcrest Drive in Lake Charles.

FREE BQ pork steaks and chicken dinners will be served, sponsored by Lake Charles District Attorney John DeRosier.  We look forward to seeing you there!  For more information call Mac Golden at 337-842-4171.
