Every year, thousands of people participate in more than 50 PurpleStrides walks around the country. This signature fundraising event for to help raise awareness and money for the cure of pancreatic cancer.

If there was ever a cause to support, this is it.  Pancreatic cancer is incredibly deadly and is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Please come out and help us find a cure.

Pancreatic cancer has claim the lives of millions as it has an extremely poor prognosis.  The PurpleStride walk in Lake Charles is this Saturday December 7th and will take place at Prien Lake Park.  Registration begins at 7:00 a.m and the opening ceremonies: 8:15 a.m..  After that, the walk will get underway at 8:45 a.m., with closing ceremonies wrapping up the event at 10:45 a.m.  For more details click here.

Statistics show the survival rates for Pancreatic cancer are 25% and the 5-year survival is approximately 15%, while the median survival for advanced and metastatic disease patients, which is over 80% of individuals, about 10 and 6 months respectively.

Men are 30% more likely to get pancreatic cancer than women and African Americans are more likely to develop pancreatic cancer than other ethnic groups.  This disease is responsible for the deaths of celebrities like, Apples Steve Jobs, actor Patrick Swayze,  the Supreme Court's oldest justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and countless others.  For help and more information about this disease, click here.
