Russell Neal, a singer in the 1990s R&B group Hi-Five, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his wife, Catherine Martinez, a fitness model.

As we previously reported, Neal entered the probable cause court in downtown Houston on Wednesday (July 2) and told deputies that his wife was dead inside his apartment.

KHOU 11 News reports that Martinez suffered multiple stab wounds as well as blunt force trauma to the head.

“The deputy contacted HFD, who forced entry into the apartment and found the woman deceased,” Sgt. Rhodes told KHOU 11 News.

The 40-year-old suspect told detectives that he and his wife got into an argument and then, apparently, asked for a lawyer. Neal was place into police custody and later charged with murder.

According to neighbors, the couple have two young sons who are currently staying with relatives. No word if the boys were in the apartment when the tragic incident happened.

“They seem like a happy couple. All of a sudden, it’s a shock," said Raymond Batiste, a neighbor.

According to TMZ, Neal is now being held in jail on a $100,000 bond.
