The 2014 BET Awards took place last night and as always the stars came out , showed out and got it turnt-up!  Chris Rock did his thang as this year’s host and the winners included Louisiana’s own August Alsina, who walked away with Best New Artist and the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Awards, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist went to Beyonce and she and Jay Z also won Best Collaboration for ‘Drunk In Love’, while Pharrell nabbed two awards for ‘Happy’ with Video Of The Year & Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Drake won Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Nicki Minaj took Best Female Hip Hop Artist and Young Money won Best Group.  Other winners were Tamela Mann, Hype Williams, Jhene Aiko and Lionel Richie with the deserving Lifetime Achievement Award.

Unfortunately, not everybody was celebrating.  The Associated Press reports during the festivities a shooting and stabbing took place at two separate parties.

Both Ne-Yo and Nelly voiced their opinions on the matter as well, Neyo stated, “I feel like the energy I give off is the energy I get back, and I don’t give off that kind of energy” Nelly chimed in and said simply,  “You can’t place [the blame] on BET.”

Finally, Rick Ross was arrested over the weekend.  The Maybach Music mogul was taken into custody after his performance at SuperJam 2014 Friday night in Greensboro, North Carolina.  According to reports Rozay had a warrant out for his arrest for failure to attend a court date in the city.
