God is good and though some are still picking up the pieces, New Orleans is making a comeback since being devastated by Hurricane Katrina.  I remember watching the news, in complete disbelief.  I couldn't wrap my mind around all the destruction and water in the city.  I, like the millions around the world was devastated watching the disaster unfold, hearing the stories, seeing people dying and being trapped in the city.   I thought, I just left the city.  How could this happen?  I'm in New Orleans all the time.  I have family and friends there, plus live roughly 4 hours from the historic city.  New Orleans is and always will be, a special place to me.

Some life long residents, businesses and neighborhoods are gone forever.  While others are in the beginning stages.  For the most part, the city is back and better than ever.  So the people of New Orleans have a lot to be thankful and celebrate about.  This week, the famous city and her resilient citizens celebrate a monumental milestone, the Hurricane Katrina 10-year Anniversary.

Celebration is New Orlean's middle name and all week, there's a host of events lined-up for every walk of life to enjoy. For the complete itinerary and schedule go to NOLA.com. There are countless art, theater and music performances going on throughout the week and weekend.

Speaking of which, Lil Wayne is giving fans and his city one of the biggest shows of the weekend with the “Morris Bart Presents Lil WeezyAna Fest: Lil Wayne and Friends” festival.  It all jumps-off Friday August 28 and Wayne is donating all the proceeds to his precious city.  Big ups to Weezy on that!

AllHipHop reports the event will take place at Bold Sphere Music at Champions Square.  If you can't be there in person, Tidal will stream the event exclusively.  In a recent interview Lil Wayne gave up more details on how that's gonna work, telling AllHipHop,

“I’ve connected with my fans in such a cool way with the help of Tidal, and with this Tidal X I can’t wait to bring them another experience,” he continued  “Lil Weezyana Fest is so special to me and I’m excited to share it with fans in New Orleans and online.”

Weezy also called into New Orleans Q93 last month to talk the upcoming fest and the release of the Free Weezy Album, which dropped 4th of July weekend.  For ticket info visit Champions-square.com or Ticketmaster.  Checkout the interview below.

See ya in New Orleans!  Be on the lookout for pics of the event over the weekend!
