The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has released an interactive map of advisories for fish consumption and/or swimming due to mercury or organic chemical contamination.

If you want to know if a local waterway isn’t safe for swimming or fishing, check the map and take a look. In addition to a mercury advisory covering the Gulf of Mexico off the Louisiana coast, the following areas in Calcasieu Parish are indicated on the map.
