J. Cole season is here. On Monday (April 16), just hours after he hosted an impromptu mystery event at New York City's Gramercy Theatre, the rapper used his Twitter account to announce a brand-new album coming this Friday (April 20).

Keeping his message short and sweet, Cole, who recently delivered a new verse in an ESPN commercial, wrote, "New album. KOD 4/20." Within 20 minutes, the tweet had been retweeted over 40,000 times and favorited more than 50,000 times. Needless to say, his fans are already out in full force.

Cole's newest project will mark his first release since 2016's 4 Your Eyez Only. While details regarding the project are obviously incredibly scarce, a number of fans claim to have been present at Gramercy Theatre earlier today and heard the entire project in one sitting.

Based on early reports from the listening session, which was for fans who arrived at the theater on a first come, first serve basis, the project is called K.O.D., which, according to reports, has three subtitles: King Overdose, Kill Our Dreams and Kids on Drugs. The project reportedly has 10 to 12 songs, and based on tweets from listeners in the room, there are no features.
