J. Cole released his fourth studio album, 4 Your Eyez Only, on December 9, 2016, and the project has already reached certified platinum status less than four months later. The album, which originally went gold back in January, was given the new achievement by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling the equivalent of one million albums, which includes both physical sales and streaming numbers.

Celebrating the news, Dreamville President Ibrahim Hamad tweeted about the huge milestone, stating, "Congrats to my brother @jcolenc on his 4th Platinum album. Also congrats to @Dreamville and All producers & musicians who worked on 4YEO." Following its release late last year, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and sold over 363,000 copies in its first week, with 492,000 album-equivalent units. It also was released accompanied by a 40-minute documentary that released exclusively to Tidal, which incorporated that tracks “False Prophets” and “Everybody Dies.”

Next week, Cole is set to release the film, 4Your Eyez Only, through HBO on April 15, which was co-directed by Scott Lazer and the rapper. The film is slated to provide "more context to the music by capturing the frustrations of lower income residents in Baton Rouge, Atlanta, Ferguson, MO, Jonesboro, AR, and Cole's hometown of Fayetteville, NC," according to a press release. Congratulations to J. Cole and the Dreamville team on their hard work paying off. Did you enjoy 4 Your Eyez Only?
