Jason Derulo scored unexpected hits with 'Talk Dirty' and 'Wiggle,' which both landed inside the Billboard Hot 100's Top 5 this year. The first half of 2014 has been one of the highest points of his career, and it's also unexpected that networks like CMT are apparently showing him more love than BET.

This wasn't a glaring omission, but Derulo didn't perform at this year's BET Awards. Pacific Rim Video Press asked the singer if he felt unappreciated by the industry, citing how R&B peers Chris Brown, August Alsina and Trey Songz took the spotlight despite Derulo's success. Derulo agreed he was unappreciated, but by BET rather than the industry.

"When you see the VMAs, when you see the AMAs and you see what happens on those shows, for that world [BET] to still be behind, I don't understand it," Derulo says. "I'm almost done with it to be honest with you. I'm not gonna continue to extend myself if they don't extend back."

Derulo wasn't too down about it despite saying he grew up on BET. If there is one bright side to his omission from the show, it's that he was saved from being joked on by the host Chris Rock. The comedian called August the black Sideshow Bob and riffed off Brown's plea deal dilemma.
