It's not often at all that fans receive a new, lengthy interview from Jay-Z these days, but one person fortunate enough to land one is David Letterman. The longtime television host recruits the Brooklyn veteran rapper as a guest for his Netflix series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, where he talks about what it takes to be a good rapper.

While the full episode doesn't premiere on Netflix until Friday (April 6), the streaming company shared a preview of Hov and Letterman's conversation today (April 2). In the clip, Jay talks about what it takes to be a good rapper, where he emphasizes the voice of a rapper, as well as how their voice carries on a song like an instrument. He even uses both Snoop Dogg and Eminem as prime examples of their voices and their cadence making them top notch rappers in the hip-hop history.

"You can have a great voice, right? And then you can almost say anything," he explains. "I think Snoop Dogg has a great voice. Like he can say, 'one, two, three and to the four.' And it's like 'Oh, my god!' It just sounds good! It just sounds really good. Or you can be someone like Eminem and just have amazing cadence and almost like the syncopation...it almost become like a percussion inside the music. There's multiple ways to become really good. Some people just have it all."

The 4:44 hitmaker's appearance on Letterman's series follows in the footsteps of previous episodes featuring Barack Obama, George Clooney and Malala Yousafzai.
