Jay Z has made history, accomplishing something no one else in hip-hop has done. The Brooklyn MC is the first rapper to be inducted in to the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

According to AllHipHop, on Wednesday, February 22, Hov was among the names announced for songwriters to be inducted into the 2017 Hall of Fame class.

Motown Founder Barry Gordy, music producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, and more, were also among the 2017 inductees.

Nile Rodgers, guitarist from the band Chic, made the announcement on CBS stating “It’s massive. He (Jay Z) has changed the way that we listen to music. He’s changed the way that we have fun,” said Rodgers.

The Roc-a-Fella/Roc Nation rapper/entrepreneur has earned 21 Grammys throughout his career. I Jigga is more than deserving of his achievement being inducted into the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame. Congrats!
