Update (Nov. 22, 11:03 a.m.):

TMZ is reporting that a Dr. Michael Farzam called police to come get Kanye for "temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration." According to a police report TMZ apparently obtained, Farzam told police Kanye had "attempted to assault a staff member at the gym," though what gym they're referring to is unclear.

The whole story is a little hazy, because TMZ had previously reported Kanye was with his trainer Harley Pasternak. The site also obtained audio of the call put into police, which you can hear below.

XXL has reached out to Kanye's camp for comment.

Original Story:

Kanye West was hospitalized on Monday (Nov. 21) after he cancelled the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour, reports NBC News.

According to TMZ, West was taken to UCLA Medical Center in the Los Angeles area for evaluation after police responded to a medical welfare call at around 1:20 p.m. Kanye wasn't initially at his home, but paramedics later transported him to the hospital. Sources say the decision to admit Kanye was "for his own health and safety."

Kanye was getting checked out by his trainer Harley Pasternak when cops responded to a welfare check, reports TMZ. Kanye was reportedly "acting erratically" and law enforcement called L.A. Fire. By the time paramedics arrived, Yeezy was apparently calmer, and TMZ reports both his management and law enforcement convinced him it was best to go to the hospital. He was allegedly handcuffed to the gurney, per standard protocol, and taken to UCLA Medical Center.

Earlier on Monday, Kanye cancelled 21 upcoming dates on his Saint Pablo tour. No reason was given, but sources cited reasons such as exhaustion for the sudden cancellation.

After news of the tour getting cancelled broke, reports surfaced Monday claiming Kanye might be suffering a nervous breakdown. Page Six reported a source as saying, "He’s having a nervous breakdown. He’s surrounded by all these crazy people, but there’s nobody he listens to or who can rein him in. He’s spiraling further and further out of control."

Daily Mail ran a similar report, saying Kanye had a "psychotic breakdown" brought on by "problems in his marriage to Kim Kardashian, paranoia over his rift with Jay Z and his seething jealousy of Beyoncé."

When the news broke, 9th Wonder sent a message to Kanye: "Been knowing the brother upwards of 13 years. Mental healing is a serious thing, no matter what. Stay strong Kanye West."
