The newest member of the "X Factor" judges panel is without a doubt, a survivor.

According to reports, Rowland set sale Friday morning from Provincetown, Mass. with a group aboard a private whale watching expedition when the ship got lost in the fog and 5-foot waves roughly 30 miles offshore.

After the Harbor Master realized the boat was late returning, the Coast Guard was notified and triangulated the position of the missing vessel.

Rowland pictured below with the captain of the towboat who was dispatched to rescue them, Noah Santos, said

“It was pretty rocky out there, from what they told me,”

“They were just a little shaken up. They were okay, though, and just very happy to see [my boat.]. -- Santos, captain of TowBoat U.S.,

Rowland thanked her rescuer the following evening, and according to him,

“I ran into her the next day while I was out at dinner with my wife and she bought us dinner,” says Santos. “She told me I was her hero.”
