The People's Station 107 Jamz congratulates Kendall Harrison, a Westlake High School graduate, is this years 2015 recipient of the  Chester Daigle II Jazz Music Scholarship.

Jazz in the Arts, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing community-based musical entertainment and for the purposes of promotion, development and education of jazz music.  The Chester Daigle II Jazz Music Scholarship is an annual endowed scholarship of $1,000.  It was established in 2011 in honor of professional jazz musician, composer, and producer Chester J. Daigle II, who gives his heart, his music, and life serving his community.

The son of Curtis and Windy Harrison. Kendall Harrison is a graduate of Westlake High School in Westlake, La. were he was the band saxophone leader all four years.  He plans to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge were he will major in Computer Engineering and minor in Music.  Harrison is a member of the Tipitina's Internship Program, Jazz In The Arts Program, Jazz Band, Jazz Honor Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Combo Band, and Basketball Band. Not to mention a member of Honor Band for two years.

Due to his passion in music, Harrison has won several awards including the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, Mr. Ram Band, The Mason's Patriotism Award, McNeese Outstanding Soloist Award, Jazziest Junior Award, Foundation Class Graduate, the Exxon Mobile ISC All Academic Scholar Boys' Tennis Team Award, and the Chester J. Daigle II Music Scholarship.  Aside from school Kendall plays for special occasions.  He is also a member of the New Life International Church band.

Look for Kendall Harrison to be featured in the next Jazz in the Arts concert with Reggie Rogers, Mickey Smith, Jay Ecker, Chester Daigle and Jairus Daigle along with the Jazz In The Arts Youth Summer Jazz Workshop Combos at Central School Arts and Humanities Center on Sunday, May 31st at 6 p.m.  The workshop begins at Central School beginning May 27th and advance tickets are $10.  Ticket can be purchased online at www.jazzinthearts.com or by calling Pat Daigle (337) 794-5744.  For more info on the scholarship, the youth summer jazz workshop or Jazz in the Arts concert, visit www.jazzinthearts.com
