Kevin Gates has never been shy about offering up his own unique takes on just about everything. He continues his honest ways by serving up some criticism for former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, who famously knelt during the playing of the national anthem before NFL games a couple years ago.

On Friday (Aug. 31), Gates used an Instagram video to speak on Kaepernick's protest, which resurfaced in the public consciousness after it was announced that his grievance filed against the NFL will go to trial. Gates says the embattled professional athlete should have found another way to fight the power.

"A lot of people are going to look at this fucked up," Gates says in the video. "I love Colin Kaepernick. That’s my brother. I love his beautiful queen Nessa. I love these people with all my heart. He should have never took a knee....We bow for no man under the stars but Allah. He should have stood palms up."

While Gates' take might be a bit left field, it doesn't appear that he's got a problem with Kaepernick's protest; just the way he was going about it. Maybe he'll expand on this in the future.

In other news, Gates has been making the most of his time since getting released from prison back in January. In July, he claimed that his forthcoming project, Luca Brasi 3, would be coming out in the near future. Before that, he dropped off Chained to the City, a special three-song release that reminded everyone of his big-time talent. Here's to hoping he continues dropping flames.
