UPDATE: Matt Viator Accepts UL-Monroe Coaching Position, McNeese Has Replacement Lined Up

UPDATE: The American Press reports that sources are pointing to McNeese defensive coordinator Lance Guidry as Viator's replacement. Guidry, a former defensive back for McNeese in the early 1990s, has been on staff since 2013. According to the Press,

Prior to that he was a defensive coordinator at the Football Bowl Subdivision level for MIami, Ohio (2009-10) and Western Kentucky (2011-12) and served as an interim head coach for both during bowl games after the head coaches were hired by larger programs.

UPDATE: The Monroe News-Star confirms that there will be a press conference Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. introducing Viator as the new coach.

ORIGINAL: In a report that has not been substantiated yet by McNeese State University, a Monroe TV station is reporting that head football coach Matt Viator will be announced as UL-Monroe's new coach Tuesday morning.

Viator, 52. was known to have met with ULM officials last week, and it was also known that the university was planning to end its search last week after former coach Todd Berry was fired in November.

Viator has been with McNeese since 2006 and is tied for the school's winningest coach alongside Bobby Keasler. He's also the Southland Conference's winningest coach.
