Music mogul L.A. Reid is taking over a yet another new label, and it's a big one. Reid has had a long, long love affair with music.  He got his start as a member of one of R&B's most memorable bands, The Deele.  From there, he teamed up with groupmate Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds as co-founder and co-president of Laface Records -- a label which single-handedly launched the carriers of countless superstars like Usher, Toni Braxton, TLC and more. Then he moved over to head up Arista Records where he served as CEO and president before jumping into the chairman position over at Def Jam.  All in all, he has shaped the careers of some of musics brightest stars, including Mariah Carey, Rhianna, Kanye West, Justin Beiber and countless others.

Though that seems like a lifetime, he's really just getting started.  Earlier this year, the veteran record exec stepped down as chairman of the Island Def Jam.  L.A. Reid is now the chairman and chief executive at Epic Records.

In a statement released by Doug Morris, CEO of Epic's parent company Sony Music Entertainment, it was said "L.A. repeatedly has proven over the course of his celebrated career that he knows how to develop world-class artistry.  We are very happy to have an executive of his talents leading Epic Records as we begin an exciting new chapter of growth for Sony Music Entertainment."
