Today in Tha Wire, a Rap pioneer, Pop icon, and Soul legend are nominated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The nominees for the 2019 induction class have been announced. AllHipHop reports L.L. Cool J, Janet Jackson, and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan are among artists to be inducted next year.

If you ask me, it's incredible to think they haven't made it sooner. James "LL Cool J" Smith is a G.O.A.T. in the music industry, with 13 albums, 2 Grammys and countless accolades over his 30-year career. L.L.'s not only a certified music mogul, but a gifted actor who has starred in a laundry list of blockbuster movies and TV shows. If nominated, Uncle L will join his Def Jam labelmates, Run-D.M.C. and The Beastie Boys, Tupac, and more to become the 7th rapper enshrined in the museum.

She hails from the Jackson dynasty, and Janet "Damita Jo" Jackson has most certainly earned a place in the Hall of Fame. At the age of 52, Janet is enjoying motherhood, and like a fine wine, is getting better with time. Nobody did a music video or danced a set better than Janet. She's been a triple threat, mega-star since the '70s in every arena. The singer/songwriter has sold an estimated 100 million albums, has 5 Grammys and countless other awards. She even holds 9 Guinness World Records! She's a phenomenal dancer and talented actress, who has starred in everything from groundbreaking TV shows like Good Times, to blockbuster movies.

Ms. Jackson is still slaying the stage and rockin' the mic! The iconic music megastar just dropped a smokin' new single featuring Daddy YankeeMade For Now.

Last but certainly not least, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, should've been inducted twenty years ago. No one on earth can sing or hit a note like the legendary Queen of Funk, Chaka Khan. The group spawned hits that are etched in music history forever. From Stay, Everlasting Love, and You Got The Love, to Sweet Thing and Tell Me Something Good, that'll be etched in music history forever.

Chaka was a beast all by herself, and dropped dimes like Ain't Nobody, Through The Fire, I'm Every Woman, I Feel For You, and on and on. The singing goddess went on to sell another 70 million albums and win 10 more Grammys when she went solo. She is one of the greatest singers alive, and incredibly this will be the second time she's been nominated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hopefully, this will be her last time.

Other 2019 nominees include Def Leppard, Devo, John Prine, Kraftwerk, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks, The Cure, Todd Rundgren, and the Zombies.
