It’s time to light up the lakefront in Lake Charles, and it all happens Saturday, Dec. 3.

The City of Lake Charles will hold its annual Christmas parade and lighting up of the lakefront. They plan on having a street parade, lighting up the front of the Civic center, holding a boat parade that night and finishing off the night with a fireworks show.

The City of Lake Charles will present the Light up the Lake Christmas celebration on Saturday, December 3. All events are free for attendees as well as participants. This will prove to be an action-packed day with numerous festivities, all times are approximate. Beginning at 2 p.m. the street parade will roll from Mill, south on Lakeshore, east on Kirby, north on Bilbo, concluding back at Mill. The route has been adjusted to allow for street construction while providing plenty of space for spectators to park and gather for this spectacular procession.

Additional Light up the Lake events held at the Civic Center includes Santa’s Workshop at 3 p.m., the Community Band Concert at 3:30 p.m., and the lighting ceremony on the front lawn at 5:15-6 p.m. Along the Lakefront Promenade, activities will include Christmas carolers and bell choir at 6 p.m., boat parade at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks slated for 7:15 p.m.
