Join in on all the fun!  Below is the festival schedule of events:

The year's Grand Marshal for the Red, White and You Parade, set for 6 p.m. on Friday July 4th is seven-year-old Emma Leger.  Little Emma is a delightful third grader at St. John Elementary. She was diagnosed with leukemia one year ago, but she's not letting the disease get her down.  Her parent's Tracie and Paul Leger, say Emma has 17 months left of chemotherapy and handling her treatments well.

The bright youngster enjoys horses, singing, dancing, gardening, spending time with her two dogs and playing football with her brothers.  Look for Emma leading the parade and give her a big hand when when she passes by.

The parade will take place at 6 pm in downtown Lake Charles starting from Mill Street, south on Ryan Street and end at Lock Park. For parade rules and entry forms, contact the City of Lake Charles at 337-491-9159.  By the way anyone who would like to participate in the parade is invited to decorate their floats, vehicles, golf carts, bicycles, marching units, etc.

Denise Fasske, event manager explained the short distance of this years parade, “This route is the perfect distance for kids to participate by decorating their bikes and wagons and filing in line.”

After the parade head to the front lawn of the Lake Charles Civic Center for a patriotic program beginning at 7:15 p.m. with the sounds of Paul Gonsoulin & John Guidroz. The Lake Charles Community Band will salute our U.S. Armed Forces and spectators can join in a sing-a-long with the Louisiana Choral Foundation and friends.

There will plenty for kids and the young at heart to enjoy like face painting, balloon clowns and great food from local vendors.  If the weather doesn't cooperate, the program will be moved inside the Civic Center Coliseum.  Complimentary flags will also be handed out.

Hopefully, we'll have clear skies, because at approximately 9:15 pm the Red, White, Blue & You firework display will kick-off.  Feel free to bring blankets or lawn chairs to further enjoy the celebration.  Our sister stations Fun Radio 92.9 FM and Gator 99 will simulcast the event, so be sure to tune in.
