The freezing weather in Southwest Louisiana has caused pipes to burst, so at the suggestion of the City of Lake Charles Water Division, residents should conserve water at least until Friday.

It's grown customary for some homeowners to let their faucets run to prevent pipes from freezing, but according to City Administrator John Cardone “When temperatures are above freezing, all running faucets should be turned off. Doing this will help rebuild water pressure in our system.”

We can expect more freezing temperatures for at least one more day, so the city suggests "faucets only need to run a steady drip to avoid freezing."

Residents can call 491.1201 for any issues or questions regarding water.
