Lil Wayne Under Fire For Disrespectful Emmett Till Lyric — Tha Wire
There's some things you just shouldn't say and unfortunately, Lil Wayne is learning that the hard way. He hooked-up with Future for the remix of 'Karate Chop' and made a disrespectful Emmett Till comment and Tills family is speaking out.
So what's the big deal? Emmett was a child when he was brutally murdered. His murder was one of the most brutal killings in U.S. history. While visiting with relatives in Mississippi he was dragged out of bed in the middle of the night, taken to a barn where he was tortured, beaten and had his eyes gouged out. Then he was shot in the head. For good measure, his murderers wrapped a 70 pound cotton gin ran around his neck with barbed wire and threw him in the river and all because he allegedly whistled at a white woman.
Thousands upon thousands attended Emmett's funeral, his casket was purchased by the Smithsonian Institution. His mother insisted upon an open casket, so that the world could see what racism did to her child.
Wayne may have really crossed the line when he chose to use Emmett as an example of what he's going to do to a girl's private area. The youngsters family upon hearing the lyrics immediately spoke out and this is what they had to say.
