The McNeese athletic department has just announced that the Cowboys football team will take on the LSU Tigers to kickoff the 2015 football season in Baton Rouge.

The Cowboys and the Tigers played each other back on October 16, 2010 and i think over half of Lake Charles was there!

The McNeese Cowboys and the LSU Tigers will play on September 5, 2015 in Tigers stadium.

McNeese and LSU first played each other on the gridiron on Oct. 16, 2010 when the 9th-ranked Tigers defeated the Cowboys 32-10.  That contest was the first-ever game the Tigers had played an in-state Football Championship Subdivision team.  Since then, LSU has played only one other FCS school from the state – Northwestern State in 2011.

“We are excited to open the 2015 season at LSU,” said McNeese head coach Matt Viator.  “To play one of the best programs in the country, in one of the premier venues, is a great opportunity for our program.”

The game in 2010 drew 92,576 in attendance, the largest crowd ever a McNeese team has played in front of.
