Last week was a tough one for rapper Meek Mill, if it’s not bad enough that he and his label mate Wale got into a Twitter beef, he was sentenced to serve time in jail.  Meek was given three to six months in jail over a probation violation stemming from his 2008 arrest for guns and drugs.

Apparently the rapper was booking out-of-state shows and changed his number without notifying his probation officer.  There's more on that below inside Tha Wire.  Plus, details surrounding the release of his Sophomore album.

Meanwhile according to Karen Civil, though there are multiple reports Meek is looking at up to 6 months, the rappers team is saying he will only serve three to four weeks instead.

At last word Meek Mill was in custody.  It’s unclear as to whether or not his jail term has started or if it’ll begin after his scheduled performance at Temple University on July 19th as a part of his “Homecoming Tour”

Rick Ross issued a written statement to MTV and addressed Meek situation saying:

I created MMG years ago, my desire was to create a space where the most talented artists in the world could be nurtured and supported. With that came a commitment. I vowed to support these artist, through the good and the bad. Every individual signed to MMG is not just an artist, they are my family. And with family you ride, or you die. Yesterday, my brother, Meek Mill ran into some unfortunate legal issues. It happens. However, his team, our team, will continue to execute Meek’s plan as close to schedule as possible.

Finally, if your were looking forward to seeing Bobby Brown this summer on the New Edition tour, your out of luck.  The 45-year-old bad-boy of R&B announced Friday (July 11) he’s dropping out of the group's summer run to recover from an undisclosed medical issue.

TMZ is reporting Brown underwent some sort of "intrusive medical procedure" recently and has to come off the road to recover.  Signs of him having a medical issue became apparent last week in Mississippi.  Reportedly Brown was visibly winded during a performance of "If It Isn't Love" and left the stage abruptly before the song ended.

This past Friday B Brown released a statement to explain what's going on and you can hear what he had to say about that inside Tha Wire below.  In case you didn’t know, last month New Edition embarked on a 28-date tour and tomorrow they’ll be live at the Saenger Theatre New Orleans.  For their complete itinerary look here.

Remaining members will Ronny DeVoeRalph Tresvant, Ricky BellJohnny Gill and Michael Bivins will keep it moving in Bobby’s absence and the tour will wrap-up August 3 in Los Angeles.
