Unlike other rappers of today, MF DOOM does his best to keep his personal life separate from his professional life, but on Monday (Dec. 18), the masked rapper pulled back the curtain to share some heartbreaking news.

According to an Instagram post from DOOM, his 14-year-old son, Malachi Ezekiel Dumile, passed away. "KING MALACHI EZEKIEL DUMILE 2/22/03 - 12/18/17 THE GREATEST SON ONE COULD ASK FOR," he wrote on Facebook. "SAFE JOURNEY AND MAY ALL OUR ANCESTORS GREET YOU WITH OPEN ARMS. ONE OF OUR GREATEST INSPIRATIONS. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING US TO BE YOUR PARENTS. LOVE YOU MALI."

It is currently unclear what was the cause of death but XXL sends condolences to DOOM's family during these rough times.

DOOM hasn't dropped a full solo album since 2009's Born Like This. He along with Adult Swim promised to release a new DOOM song for 15 weeks every week as part of their Missing Notebook Rhymes series but that was canceled without a reason.

"Adult Swim is ending our relationship with DOOM, and thus, the remaining Missing Notebook Rhymes will, unfortunately, have to remain... missing. We are glad to have had the chance to provide the previous free tracks to our fans," read a statement sent to XXL from an Adult Swim spokesperson.
