Miguel Opens Up About ‘Wildheart’ Album, Relationship With Nazanin Mandi & Pressure to Get Married [VIDEO]

Miguel is getting ready to share his new album, WILDHEART, with the world. But before the project drops on June 30, the "Adorn" singer stopped by Hot 97 to chat with Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez, two-thirds of the Ebro in the Morning crew, about the new record, his relationship and the pressure to get married.

After releasing the full version of his song "Coffee (F***king)" a few days ago, the crooner opened up about the new album, which is a follow-up to his 2012 album, Kaleidoscope Dream. The singer will work with the same set of producers that he had on the last two albums, but he also hit the studio with DJ Premier. However, those songs didn't make the final track list. Miguel explained that he's glad artists understand when that happens.

"It's weird but at the same time them as artists understand that," Miguel shared. "When something doesn't fit in the grand scheme, you lose the ego because it's about the music."

One thing he is really looking forward to is the visuals that will accompany the songs on WILDHEART. “Visually I wanted to do something different for this album,” he said. "I just really wanted to step it up this time and the visuals take the music to a whole other level."

And as far as the album title, Miguel explained that he really resonated with the idea of being wild at heart, which is something that Nazanin Mandi, the singer's girlfriend of almost 10 years, learned to understand.

"I really am wild-hearted," the crooner explains. "I'm wild at heart. It just means I follow my instincts and that's what this album's about, and I think she's learned that and adjust and how to embrace and I love her more for that."

Even though he and Nazanin have been dating on and off for just about a decade, they aren't in any rush to walk down the aisle.

"I don't feel the pressure because I know when I commit, I really commit. Now it's just thrown around because you can easily break up, and I'm not that kind of person," he said. "I wouldn't do that to her, and that's not how I was raised. I don't think that would be honorable."

Any pressure about tying the knot isn't stemming from the couple but from everyone else pushing them to make that big move. "I think you've got to know yourself as a person," Miguel discloses, "and I think I've come so far as a man and I'm just feeling now that I'm solid like I can hold this down legitimately. I think people throw things around like marriage, and I just wasn't raised like that."
