If there’s any athlete who elevated sports and civil rights so effortlessly it was Muhammad Ali. The iconic boxer was a humanitarian, comedian, father figure and role model roll into one. Sadly, Ali passed away on Friday (June 3) at the age of 74.

Upon hearing the news of Ali's passing, several rappers, singers and celebrities went on social media to paid homage to the man who is, unquestionably, "The Greatest."

"I'm gonna cry a lot of tears tonight!!! RIP to The Original Greatest! Muhammad Ali!!!" tweeted DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Diddy, who maintained a close relationship with Muhammad Ali through they years, went on Instagram account and posted several photos of himself with the boxing legend.

"Thank you for always showing me and my family love," he wrote in one photo. "He was so kind to everyone he met! #RIPALI we miss you. We love you. You have changed the world. And taught us all something REST IN PEACE GREAT ONE."

Finally, veteran studio maestro Quincy Jones went on Facebook and wrote, "RIP to the greatest of all time, our brother and friend Muhammad Ali. You embodied the best of us as human beings. The world will miss your presence, but we'll celebrate your spirit forever."

True indeed. We want to send our heartfelt condolences to Muhammad Ali's family and friends. May he rest eternally in peace.
