Since I have been here in Louisiana I have had to deal with various storms and hurricanes in the area. Now I have seen Tornados first hand but there is nothing like being in the midst of a storm and being trapped to the point of not being able to leave.

Over the past few years I have seen my share of flooding in the area  and have really been bothered by folks who the previous night had the home intact and within 24 hours lost everything. I remember about 3 years ago I was at the gym and couldn't leave because of the flooding in the area. The crazy thing about it was that it was sunny when I went and within minutes the water started rising. Here are some pictures that I took with my phone. It was hard to believe that the water had risen this high during this time. I actually saw a man riding in a small boat through the neighborhood.

My prayers go out to everyone that has been affected by the storms and who are working to rebuild. The word just came out today that Calcasieu and Allen and Ascension Parishes have been added to federal disaster declaration after Gov. Edwards requested this on Tuesday. Keep it locked here for more information on what to do next and of course about more road closures or openings within the area.
