The numbers are in and the people have spoken. Straight Outta Compton  was a HUGE hit at the box office over the weekend.  AllHipHop reports the N.W.A biopic made history and pulled in an unbelievable $60.2 million in it's first weekend, making it the biggest opening ever for a musical biopic.  That's not all, the flick is also the largest R-rated August opening in box office history and is in fifth place for the biggest August opening ever.

Not to bad, for a few boys from the hood.  At first Universal Studios reported Straight Outta Compton made $56.1 million, but that number was bumped-up another 4.1 million by the time the final count came in.  At the end of the day the films director, F. Gary Gray, wants audiences to walk away fully understand the legacy of N.W.A. and were they were coming from.

In an exclusive interview, Gray told AllHipHop.com:

“Hopefully, people get a sense of the history behind them, and it enriches Hip Hop and American history. It’s tied to a lot of things.  One or two hundred years from now people will ask, ‘What was going on in popular culture in the 80’s and 90’s?’ Hopefully, this is one of the films they turn to.”

I'm sure they will.  I think it's clear, N.W.A. wasn't just a rap group or a bunch of dummies looking to start trouble.  They made the world open it's eyes.  Ironically, some of what was happening within the confines of the hood back then, has now become the source of public out-cry across the country today.

In quick news, AllHipHop reports rapper/Love & Hip Hop Atlanta reality star Young Joc is starring down a lawsuit of $79, 901.96.  Apparently the rapper skipped out on a bill he allegedly racked up roughly 6 years ago.

The rapper is being accused of not paying his bill.  According to the  at  Atlanta Journal Constitution, Aydin & Company jewelry store back in 2009.  The store owner, Aydin, claims the 32-year old rapper bought a high dollar bracelet and diamond ring valued at $17,500 and never paid the bill.  So the jeweler filed suit and looking to score a little extra in damages, by tacking on interest, court costs and lawyers fees.

So far no comment from Joc or his camp on the matter.
