Nelly Arrested In Tennessee And Faces Felony Drug Charges – Tha Wire [VIDEO]

Today in Tha Wire, over the weekend Nelly was arrested and charged with felony drug procession in Tennessee and Tina Knowles married actor Richard Lawson.

According to AllHipHop Nelly is looking at some serious charges after being detained over the weekend in Tennessee.  The rapper/actor, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was traveling on his tour bus Saturday morning and was pulled over for improper stickers by Tennessee State troopers.

Reportedly a state trooper smelled marijuana coming from the bus, as he inspected the stickers.  Authorities said after inspecting the bus, they discovered weed, methamphetamine, and other drug paraphernalia.

Though more than 15 people were said to be on the bus, it sounds like the St. Louis MC was the only one to catch the charges and be arrested.  AllHipHop reports Nelly is facing one count of felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  For now he's a free man after bonding out and his legal team is confident he's going to be clear of all charges.

AllHipHop reports Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, released a statement on the incident and said:

Nelly was one of several individuals that was on a tour bus that was stopped and searched while traveling through Tennessee. In fact, there had been 15-20 people that had access to the bus prior to the stop. Allegedly, a small quantity of contraband (MDMA aka Molly or Ecstasy) was discovered during the routine search. We are extremely confident that when the facts come out, Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered.

Finally, while the who's-who in Hollywood was at the Coachella festival this weekend, one power couple skipped music's big night to attend a wedding.  People reports Jay Z, Beyonce, Solange and approximately 200 others boarded a fabulous yacht in Newport Beach, CA. to witness the matrimony of their mother Tina Knowles, to actor Richard Lawson.

Lawson is best known for his role as Locas Barnes from the long running soap All My Children and various movies like Poltergeist, How Stella Got Her Groove Back and more.

After nearly 30-years, Tina split from Mathew Knowles in 2009 and their divorce was finalized in 2011.  Taking another jab at happiness, Tina Knowles, 61, and Richard Lawson, 68, started dating in 2013.  Over the weekend the happy couple married in an intimate ceremony surrounded by friends and family.
