New Music Releases for December 2016

As we close out the year, December provides artists with one more chance to shoot their shot in 2016. This year's December crop doesn't include any A-list artists dropping records, but it does have some heavy hitters all the same, including Gucci Mane, Childish Gambino, Tech N9ne and others.

The first weekend of the month kicks off with Gambino dropping his new album Awaken, My Love!, the follow-up to his 2013 project Because the Internet. The rapper is fresh off the heels of wrapping the first season of his new FX show Atlanta and is looking to close the calendar out on a high note.

The old school and the new school collide when Smoke DZA and Pete Rock drop their joint LP, Don’t Smoke Rock, on the same day, as The Hamilton Mixtape, which features Chance The Rapper, The Roots, Nas, Wiz Khalifa, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Usher, Common and many others also impacting.

Post Malone will finally release his debut album, Stoney, which seems long overdue, and Gucci Mane will add one more notch in his belt with the X-Mas-themed Return of East Atlanta Santa mixtape.

Odd Future member Hodgy formerly known as Hodgy Beats will drop his solo debut, Fireplace: NotTheOtherSide.
