As hip-hop fans, we've already been spoiled in 2017 so far. New projects ranging from Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Future to Kodak Black, GoldLink and Lil Yachty have all been music to our ears in the last few months. And let's not forget that JAY-Z himself blessed rap fans with his 13th studio album 4:44, his first new batch of music in four years. But as the calendar turns to reveal the halfway mark in the year, there's still some dope hip-hop releases to look forward to.

Many would argue that summer is the perfect time to drop an album or mixtape. People are outside enjoying the weather and need new music to bump from their car speakers or blast at the cookouts. If a rapper has a banger and releases it during the hottest months of the year, they just might have a shot at going down in history as creating the song of the summer.

French Montana is definitely a contender to have the hottest song of summer 2017. His track "Unforgettable" featuring Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd is currently at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and will likely rise and the temperatures do. That means it's the perfect time to drop an accompanying album. Expect French's latest album, Jungle Rules, to arrive July 14.

ATL trendsetter and former XXL Freshman 21 Savage has one of the hottest projects last summer when he teamed up with producer Metro Boomin for Savage Mode. This time around, Sav will go it alone and deliver his official debut album under Epic Records. Savage's ISSA is due out July 7. Will lightning strike twice?
