Nicki Minaj Is Finally Going To The Top!

The newest female hip hop star Nicki Minaj is finally going to the top of the charts with the new release "Pink Friday".

Nicki Minaj joined her boss Lil Wayne as the only two artists in recent history to have their album land at #1 on the Billboard 200 after debuting lower on the chart; the project also crossed the 1 million-units-sold mark this week. The Queens rapper's Pink Friday ascended to #1 on Wednesday (February 9) in its 11th week, besting debuts by Ricky Martin and rock outfit Red and a surge in sales for Rihanna's Loud. "We finally did it! PINK FRIDAY is the #1 Album in the United States of America!!!!! *faints* thank u sooooo much for the continued support," Nicki tweeted. The Young Money artist's feat is a rare achievement, according to Billboard.com. Last year, 30 albums topped the Billboard 200 chart, but only one — Lil Wayne's I Am Not a Human Being — scored the top position after debuting lower. This isn't the first time Nicki Minaj has made history on the charts, either. Last summer, she notched four songs (through guest appearances) on the Hot 100 chart at the same time, becoming the first female artist to do so. In November, when Pink Friday bowed at #2 on the chart, bested only by Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Nicki was overwhelmed by the album's success. "I'm just so grateful and kind of still in shock. These numbers haven't been put up since 1998," she told MTV News, referring to Lauryn Hill's tally for a debuting solo female. "It just makes me feel proud of my team, proud of my fans, everyone who has had something to do with my dreams. Finally, we are seeing this dream come to fruition. It feels incredible."
