Nicki Minaj continues her return to the public eye as she’s been tapped as the musical guest to close out this season of Saturday Night Live.

The May 19 episode will be hosted for the sixth time by SNL vet Tina Fey. The appearance will serve as a springboard toward the 35-year-old MC’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, which is still without a release date. Last Thursday, Nicki set the hip-hop world on fire by sharing two singles off the forthcoming project: “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz.” Both songs have drawn rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

Minaj adds her name to a stacked slate of performers in May. On May 5, Donald Glover will both host and perform during the show and Kasey Musgraves will be making her SNL debut on May 12 just a month after releasing her latest album, Golden Hour.

The Queens native has previously appeared on Saturday Night Live four times, with a pair of visits serving as the official musical guest in 2011 and 2014. It's been a big month for Nicki Minaj, who shocked fans by taking a four-month break from social media entirely during which time she made no official public appearances. After dropping her two singles, many believe that an album may be on the way soon, which could in part explain her decision to stay out of the public eye. "Barbie Tingz" and "Chun-Li" alone have put her back on Billboard's map, who have nominated her for Top Female Rap Artist in the 2018 Billboard Music Awards alongside Cardi B and Bhad Bhabie.
