Caring for a family pet can get expensive.  Every year domestic animals/pets need to vaccinated for rabies and if they have any other problems, the vet bill can get pretty steep.  Thankfully, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury in conjunction with the Office of Animal Services is willing to help take some of that expense off local pet owners.

Every year the Office of Animal Services offer two low-cost, drive-thru rabies vaccination clinics to help prevent the spread of rabies infection in Calcasieu Parish.  This allows for a convenient way to bring your pets to get their shots, in the comfort of your vehicle and all at discount price.  As an added bonus spay or neutered animals get an even bigger discount on their vaccinations.  Plus, micro-chipping to insure the safety of your pet will also be available at the clinics.
Clinic dates, time, and locations are:
  • March 28, 2015           7am – 12pm    West Cal Arena & Events Center in Sulphur
  • April 25, 2015              7am – 12pm    Burton Coliseum Complex in Lake Charles
All animals will be administered shots by a licensed Louisiana Veterinarian in Calcasieu Parish.  The vaccination and licensing fee for unaltered pets is $10.00 and only $8.00 for spay or neutered pets.  Dogs must be on a leash and cats need to be in a portable kennel. Pet owners may pay by cash or check.
It's important to know that the Louisiana State Code requires all dogs and cats over the age of three months must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed. Keep in mind once your pet has been vaccinated, they are required to wear their license tag at all times.  This includes cats.  Cat owners are asked to place the license on a humane breakaway collar.
