Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week

The Christmas Holiday is almost here and the folks at Samaritan's Purse are working overtime, collecting "Shoebox Gifts," for poor children around the world. The national collection week is in progress, now through November 21, 2016. Parents and Grandparents this is the perfect opportunity to show your children the importance of helping others. Doing a "Shoebox Gift" as a family is a wonderful way to teach that lesson. If you or your organization are looking for a community service project worth while, this is it.

Unlike the video, you don't have to wrap the box and lid. In fact, you can use any shoebox in your closet, or pick one up a shoebox/boxes at any local Operation Christmas Child drop-off site. Operation Christmas Child is an annual charitable event sponsored by Samaritan's Purse, a Christian organization that provides spiritual and physical aid to the poor around the world. Promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ, they deliver "Shoebox Gift" filled with gifts for poor children, who otherwise wouldn't get anything for Christmas. Each shoebox has a bible, in the native language or it's origin, placed inside to teach children about who Jesus Christ is and what Christmas is all about. National collection week is going on now.
