The life and legacy of Pimp C will be remembered at a panel discussion at Rice University in Houston on Tuesday (Jan. 31). The event coincides with artifacts from Pimp C's life being stored at the Center for Engaged Research and Collaborative Learning’s Hip-Hop Archive at the Woodson Library at Rice University.

The symposium, “Pimp C: A Trill Legacy,” will feature guest panelists like UGK member and Pimp C's friend Bun B, David Banner, Lil Keke, Swishahouse Records founder DJ Michael "5000" Watt, Pimp C’s wife Chinara Butler and many others.

The event, which is free to the public, will run from 7PM to 10PM. For more information, watch the video above.

The Pimp C archival collection at Rice University contains several documents and other paraphernalia of the artist known as Chad "Pimp C" Butler. The documents include handwritten song lyrics on loose leaf paper and cardboard, papers from the Texas Department of Justice relating to his arrest for aggravated assault, a Grammy nomination, a copy of his obituary from his funeral, and a marketing plan by FM2 Radio and the joint venture deal with Universal Music Group.

Pimp C isn't the only artist to have his legacy archived at a prestigious university. Classic rap albums by A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Lauryn Hill, Kendrick Lamar and MC Lyte have been enshrined into the Harvard University's library as part of the We Are the Breaks project, curated by 9th Wonder.

Salute to Rice University for honoring the late Pimp C.
