My family and I went last month and had a ball.  We actually go to Galveston every year at least once.  While there we usually go to Moody Gardens, Palm Beach, the Rain Forest Cafe' and Schlitterbahn.  Now we have something extra to do!

The Pleasure Pier is located on Galveston Island at 25th street & Seawall Blvd.  It's super easy to find, plus there's plenty parking both on the street along the seawall for free and in the designated parking lot for about $10.00.  However keep in mind buses, tractor trailers & RV parking is not allowed in premium lot.  I must say the ticket are pricey though.

Pier was build in 1943 and featured rides, an arcade, aquarium, concessions and fishing at the end of the pier.  Sadly, it was destroyed by Hurricane Carla in 1961.  Then, in at the same location in 1965 the famous Flagship Hotel was build and stayed in operation right up until it was demolished by Hurricane Ike in 2008.

As far as new and exciting things to do, I recommend Pleasure Pier for close by family fun.
