Calling on area schools, students and parents a highly competitive poetry recitation contest.  It will all take place February 26, 2015 at Central School Arts and Humanities Center in Lake Charles at 809 Kirby Street.

The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation have teamed-Up with U.S. state arts agencies to support Poetry Out Loud.  This contest encourages the nation’s youth to learn about the importance of poetry through memorization and recitation. This program also helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, character and learn about their literary heritage all at the same time.

If you or your school is interested in competing at Regional's, contact Erica McCreedy at the Arts Council at 337-439-2787 for more details.
