One shooter is in custody and the hunt is on for his partner in the killing of a 23-year-old man and the shooting of a 62-year-old woman on North Cherry Street Thursday.  LCPD Chief Don Dixon said detectives are looking for any information the public can provide on the unidentified second shooter.

In a press conference today, Dixon said police have already arrested 27-year-old Lionel Jacoby Rubin on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.  the chief said his arrest was made at around 3:45 a.m. this morning, and Rubin’s behind bars with $1.5 million bond.  Thursday morning, Rubin and his partner allegedly shot and killed Shane Landry.  The 62-year-old woman was not identified, but Dixon said she survived surgery and is recovering.  Two children were in the house at the time of the shooting — ages 3 and 7.  Police were only providing limited details of the shooting to protect the investigation.

 

Dixon said police believe that Landry was the target and that he knew the shooters, but it’s unclear if the shootings were gang-related.  Both of the victims were unarmed.

Detectives are looking for anyone who had contact with Rubin between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday.  At the same time, D
