Over the years, Quavo has proven to be a man of many talents. From his historic high school football career to his part in making Migos one of hip-hop's most influential groups ever, it seems like there's nothing that the 27-year-old Georgia native can't do.

During his interview for XXL's Winter 2018 cover story, Quavo (born Quavious Keyate Marshall) showed off another one of his skills: fishing. It's a skill set he learned when he was young from his mother's boyfriend, He's since developed a natural knack for the outdoorsy craft. Sitting on the backyard dock of a Miami rental house, the charismatic rapper showed how it's done.

“It’s kind of like making a hit song when you fishing,” Quavo says. “You don’t know what’s in the water. You come out with something big: That’s a No. 1 record. You come out with something small—records that keep your head bobbing, people fuck with it, it might creep Top 10, Top 20—we throw it back. But this No. 1 you keep, you hang your plaque on the wall, skin it, filet it, eat with the gang and you back to fishing again.”

With a line in the water, Quavo sat down with XXL to speak about the making of his solo debut album Quavo Huncho, the dynamic within the Migos trio and how his group stacks up in the pantheon of all-time greats. Watch him catch some fish in the video above.
