Over the weekend we lost Shawty Lo, Actor Bill Nunn and now comes news of the passing of producer and singer Kashif. I remember listening to his music back in the 80's as he was all over the radio with plenty of jams including "Stone Love", "Personality", "Help Yourself to my love" and more.

The word comes that he was discovered by a neighbor at his home in New York as he lived by himself. He was a musical educator and also was the defining discovery of artist like Evelyn Champagne King, Melba Moore and Whitney Houston. All you have to do is go back to the eighties and you'll find that if it was a hot song, Kashif had something to do with it.

He was featured about a year ago on TV One's Unsung special that showcased his musical abilities from the group the B.T. Express until he actually stepped out on his own and conquered the music charts. I still have his greatest hits cd at home and was actually listening to it about a month ago. It's sad that we are losing so many great ones in the entertainment industry. It's also very sad that he was alone and apparently been dead since Sunday. There is no cause of death or further details at the moment. But this is another legend that is gone to soon. For those who are a little younger and may not remember his music.

Check out a few of my favorite videos from back in the day and also the classic joint that he wrote and produced for Whitney Houston.
