A $5 million rape lawsuit against Russell Simmons has been dropped. It's revealed Weds., April 25, that Simmons' accuser, a 37-year-old filmmaker named Jennifer Jarosik, decided to no longer pursue her charges against the hip-hop mogul.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the most recent allegations against Simmons were thrown out in a "joint stipulation of dismissal with prejudice," which means that she can't refile the case and is typically a sign that a settlement has taken place. If you recall, Jarosik had previously filed the lawsuit after publicly accusing Simmons in January of sexually assaulting her several times from 2011 to 2016 and sought $5 million in damages.

Simmons maintained that the two had a consensual sexual relationship and had known each other since 2006. He also claimed in an official filing attempting to corroborate the consensual relationship that Jarosik sent him nude photos and romantic texts over the years.

He continued that he believed Jarosik was trying to extort money from him through the lawsuit and was someone with a "propensity to exaggerate" and who has "untreated mental health issues."

Although this case appears to have ceased, Simmons' legal troubles are far from over. He has been publicly accused of sexual misconduct by 16 women (including Jarosik) and is currently in the midst of a $10 million lawsuit filed by an anonymous woman who claims Simmons raped her in a hotel and threatened her son's life.

According to the lawsuit, the Def Jam founder told the woman, "I am going to fuck you or I'm going to fuck your son. You decide." He then allegedly forced her onto the bed and raped her.

That incident reportedly took place in 1988, which Simmons' lawyers argue make it outside the state's statute of limitations, making it not possible to try in court.

We'll keep you updated on Simmons' legal situation as it continues.
