The Stables at Le Bocage have teamed up with the Family and Youth Counseling Agency and The Stables at Le Bocage are joining forces for a good cause.  This Saturday November 22nd come out and support the Reins of Hope Charity Horse Show at The Stables at Le Bocage, located at 450 South Park Rd., in Lake Charles.

All proceeds from the event will benefit children participating in various programs at the Shannon Cox Counseling Center.  The center works specifically with children who've lost a significant person in their lives and dealing with grief and/or life-changing events.  Julio Galan, C.E.O. of  Family and Youth Counseling Agency said, "We are blessed to have, under the Shannon Cox Counseling Center, a program that works with children who have lost a significant person in their lives."

Jeanne Dennis, director of the Therapeutic Riding Program at the Stables at Le Bocage, told KPLCTV, the therapy horses are carefully picked, based on qualities like good patience, adding "They have to have a very special quality where they pick up on the child's needs. Therapeutic horses are a very unique animal."

Therapy horses like Missy can make all the difference in a child's life.  Julio Galan explained, "Children who work with horses can actually open up, feel more comfortable, and they are able to deal with their grief much better."

Jeanne Dennis agrees saying that seeing the transformations in children is the best part, "Getting to know them and seeing the differences that they start with and where we end up, it's a wonderful thing to watch."
