A Tribe Called Quest was one of the dopest groups to hit the hip hop scene. While I have been a fan since the beginning with The Sugarhill Gang and Run D.M.C. It was something about A Tribe Called Quest that brought me into their world. I remember them like yesterday. There were four guys who hailed from New York and they had me glued to the television screen with the first video I saw from them "I Left My Wallet In El Segundo" It was Q-Tip, Jarobi, Ali Shaheed and of course the Five Footer with the most Phife Dawg. Well when I heard the word about Phife passing today. I had to make sure to speak my peace on this.

He had been living in Atlanta for several years and also had been battling Diabetes which was taking a major toll on his body. Although we had seen him still doing shows with the members of the Tribe. You could tell that he was not at his best point and looked a little different then we were used to seeing him back in the day. I feel they are truly worthy of all praises as a group, but it was something about Phife Dawg who really took spitting rhymes to another level. To show just how much influence this guy had on folks, check out this traffic update courtesy of WSB News in Atlanta with reporter Mark Arum.
