Who didn't know James Mayo?  He's got to be one of the happiest people I knew.  He ALWAYS wore a smile on his face.  That's how I will always remember him.  I got the sad news of his passing early Saturday morning and like everybody else, was absolutely stunned.  In fact, it's still hard to wrap my mind around it.

James Mayo died in his sleep December, 13th 2014, he was only 52-years old.

James Mayo was a well known, dedicated, highly respected and loved individual in our community.  A Xavier University alumni, Mayo holds a degree in Political Science and Business Administration.  He was EVERYWHERE and in EVERYTHING.  His since of home and great love for community lead to him to serve as District 2 Calcasieu Parish Police Juror, Assistant Director of the Lake Charles Civic Center and Administrative Assistant to the Mayor of Lake Charles.

Mr. Mayo was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lake Charles.  He believed in God, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and demonstrated his strong Catholic faith in more ways than one.  James Mayo was the National President of the Catholic Youth Organization Federation, an At-Large Member on the National Advisory Council to the Catholic Bishops of the United States Catholic Conference and a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council 141.

Last but not least, he was also a proud member of several community organizations like the Volunteer Center of Southwest LA, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and The Fellas Social and Civic Organization.

James Mayo talked the talk, but more importantly......he walked the walk.  He has countless accolades, was known by many, loved by hundreds and will never be forgotten. We here at 107 Jamz worked with him on countless events throughout the years and will keep the many memories of those times near and dear to our hearts.

To the love of his life Cissy, beloved son Briar Mayo, family and friends we extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences.  James Mayo, we will remember you always.  Rest in sweet peace........
