Tonight, Saturday, November 26, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct their second combination DWI and seatbelt checkpoint since their first on Wednesday, November 23, at an undisclosed location within the parish.

Their latest checkpoints are targeting persons driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. These checkpoints have in the past "proven effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired, and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted,” said  CPSO press release.

People who are not wearing their seatbelt are also the target of the latest checkpoints funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
