We already know one of our fave ‘American Idol‘ alumni, Adam Lambert, is up for a judging stint to potentially replace Jennifer Lopez on the show. But who else is in talks for the gig? So far, a slew of divas — and one dude.E! Online reports that Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Fergie and will.i.am are all contenders to fill J-to-the-L-O’s stilettos. E! also noted that Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler aren’t sure bets to return next season, either — it all depends on who else is picked to be on the panel.

Minaj performed on ‘Idol’ this season and admitted she’d love to guest judge, but that she’s not sure if she could make it a permanent position. “Something like ‘American Idol,’ it’s iconic and has been around for so long and created so many stars,” said Minaj. “I would love to (guest judge) but as far as sitting down every week, I can’t.”

Cyrus hasn’t commented on a judging spot, but she was rumored to be in talks to host or judge ‘X Factor‘ before Demi Lovato got the gig. She may be a great foil for Lovato for the teen and tween demographic. Fergie previously shot down rumors of an ‘X Factor’ stint, possibly because she was eyeing ‘Idol’ — though that’s just speculation for now. Will.i.am has judging experience from his time on ‘The Voice‘ across the pond and is a frequent ‘Idol’ mentor.

One pop star who has spoken out about an ‘A.I.’ spot? Perry, who shot down rumors of joining the panel. She told The Hollywood Reporter, “People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it’s not right for me yet. It’s a real commitment to be on one of those shows. … I have ideas for two or three big, creative things, and I want to be able to fulfill those ideas.”

Despite not taking the offer, Perry offered criticism on some of their panelists. “I find it completely hilarious when they hire people that are not current in music and haven’t been for a decade or longer,” she scoffed. “Or if they’re not even in music. How are you going to give a perspective when you haven’t even lived that perspective?” We’re not sure who she’s referring to, exactly (maybe Paula Abdul, but she’s been long gone), but whatevs. She still had kind words for competition shows, telling THR, “It’s very of-the-moment, and some of them are better than others.”
